Job Title: Electrical Estimator / Surveyor\n\nLocation: Birmingham / West Midlands\n Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent\n Salary: Up to £55,000 + Package/Company benefits\n\nCompany Overview\n\nWe are a well-established and growing electrical subcontractor operating throughout Birmingham and the wider West Midlands. We deliver high-quality electrical installations across commercial, industrial, residential, and public sector projects. Due to continued growth, we are looking to appoint an Electrical Estimator with strong technical knowledge and site experience, capable of supporting the business through accurate tendering and project surveying.\n\nRole Overview\n\nThe Electrical Estimator / Surveyor will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive electrical estimates while also carrying out site surveys and assisting with project handovers.
The role will suit someone with strong estimating experience who is comfortable visiting sites, reviewing drawings, liaising with clients, and supporting the contracts team during pre-construction and delivery stages.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nEstimating & Tendering\n\nPrepare detailed electrical estimates for projects ranging from small works to large-scale contracts\n\nInterpret drawings, specifications, and tender documents\n\nCarry out take-offs for materials, labour, plant, and preliminaries\n\nObtain and assess supplier and subcontractor quotations\n\nPrepare tender submissions, clarifications, and value engineering options\n\nWork closely with senior management and contracts team during bid reviews\n\nSurveying & Pre-Construction Support\n\nAttend site visits and carry out detailed surveys to assess scope, access, and constraints\n\nIdentify risks, opportunities, and potential variations at tender stage\n\nAssist with value engineering and alternative design proposals\n\nSupport project handovers from estimating to contracts management\n\nCommercial & Technical Support\n\nAssist with pricing of variations and additional works during live projects\n\nProvide technical support to contracts managers and site teams as required\n\nMaintain estimating databases, cost plans, and pricing schedules\n\nKeep up to date with material prices, labour rates, and industry trends\n\nClient & Stakeholder Liaison\n\nLiaise with clients, main contractors, consultants, and suppliers\n\nAttend tender interviews and pre-contract meetings where required\n\nBuild and maintain strong professional relationships\n\nSkills & Experience Required\n\nEssential\n\nProven experience as an Electrical Estimator within an electrical subcontractor environment\n\nStrong understanding of electrical installations and regulations (BS 7671)\n\nAbility to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications\n\nExperience carrying out site surveys and pre-construction assessments\n\nStrong numerical, analytical, and organisational skills\n\nProficient in Microsoft Excel and estimating software\n\nFull UK driving licence\n\nDesirable\n\nExperience estimating commercial, industrial, or residential projects\n\nKnowledge of design & build contracts\n\nExperience using estimating software (e.g. Conquest, ECA, Trimble, or similar)\n\nNICEIC Qualified Supervisor or equivalent\n\nHNC / HND or NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation or Building Services\n\nPersonal Attributes\n\nDetail -oriented with a methodical approach\n\nCommercially aware and results driven\n\nConfident communicator with clients and internal teams\n\nAble to work independently and as part of a team\n\nProactive and solutions-focused\n\nPackage & Benefits\n\nCompany vehicle or car allowance (if required for site visits)\n\nPension scheme\n\nHoliday entitlement\n\nCareer progression opportunities within a growing business\n\nTo apply please contact (url removed)
