Within Care and Rehabilitation Services, the philosophy of our prisons is to rehabilitate offenders and equip them to re-integrate into mainstream society on release. HMP Rye Hill is a category 'C' training prison situated in the village of Willoughby, near Rugby in Warwickshire, holding approximately 1122 sentenced male adults.
We now have an opportunity for an Escort to join our Facilities Management team at HMP Rye Hill.
As an Escort you will work as directed to assist with the contractor control process in escorting and controlling the contractor and visitor movements across the prison estate that fall under the responsibility of the business. You will be working within the administration team of the Total Facilities Management (TFM) services to meet operational and business requirements.
Key Responsibilities
  • Operate within CaRS procedures to escort contractors/visitors movements across the prison estate that is the responsibility of CaRS.
  • Deal effectively and safely with contractor / visitor movements to maintain health & safety requirements.
  • Assist in the development of contractor control procedure routines, processes, risk assessments, and records.
  • Work with other craft qualified, semi-skilled and unskilled maintenance staff if required in aspects of maintenance activities on a team work basis.
  • Security awareness within a prison environment in respect to key locking and tool control when escorting maintenance contractors within the prison estate.
  • Carry out routine inspections of the contractor works to make sure that all safety guidance and practises are followed to maintain an effective and efficient safe environment.
  • Assist in the promotion of creating a positive Health & Safety culture across the site leading by example, this includes the reporting of accidents and near misses in a timely manner and the application of safe systems of work for the role.
Essential Skills
  • Experienced within a maintenance establishment.
  • Following policy and procedures.
  • Experience within a health & Safety environment to understand and control contractors within the estate.
Desirable Skills
  • BSC level 1 Health & Safety.
  • Full, clean driving license.
  • Experience of building and facilities maintenance
