SUMMARY OF POSITION
We are looking for a full-time, experienced, and responsible Equipment Operator to join our growing company. Working as part of the construction crew building and restoring streams and wetland projects using such methods as stream bank stabilization, floodplain restoration, regenerative storm water conveyance, and wetland mitigation.
TYPICAL RESPONSIBILITIES / ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Follows all project instructions from foreman or supervisor
Ability to read construction plans while following construction specifications
Performs daily inspection and preventative maintenance on assigned equipment and refers any defects and/or repairs to Operations
Safely and efficiently operates heavy construction equipment and trucks such as excavators, track trucks/offroad haul trucks, bulldozers, rubber tire loaders, compact track loaders, tractors and attachments for equipment
Installs stream and wetland stabilization structures such as boulder and log installation, rock cross vanes, boulder crops and outcrops toe, boulder clusters, rock and log J hooks, step pools, toe wood, etc.
Safely operates a variety of tools including hand tools, chainsaws and miscellaneous power tools
Ensures construction equipment and tools are cleaned and stored properly
Assists other team members while checking on grade of construction
Installs site erosion control measures and performs site stabilization as/when necessary
Follows all OSHA, MSHA and site-specific safety requirements
Effectively communicates with other team members
REQUIREMENTS
Must be at least 18 years of
Valid driver's license and/or reliable transportation
1-2 years of relevant operating experience (especially with excavators & bulldozers)
Must be able to work out of town (Monday through Friday)
Must be able to work in outdoor environments, including prolonged walking or standing on various terrain in a wide range of weather conditions
Must be self-motivated and able to work independently and meet necessary deadlines
Must have experience with hand tools associated with the trade
Must follow all company rules, regulations, policies, guidelines, etc.
