EHS Specialist (Contract)

We’re supporting a regulated life sciences site near Oxford that is seeking an experienced EHS Specialist to provide hands-on, onsite support on a short-term contract basis.

Working alongside the site EHS lead, you will play a vital role in ensuring safe and compliant operations across laboratories, facilities, and contractor activities in a fast-moving, regulated environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, review, and update risk assessments across laboratory, facility, and construction activities
• Prepare and deliver EHS training for site personnel
• Conduct and review COSHH assessments in line with UK legislation
• Draft, revise, and standardise SOPs to support compliant operations
• Support incident investigations, including root-cause analysis and corrective actions
• Review RAMS and Permits to Work for onsite contractors
• Provide day-to-day EHS guidance and advisory support to operational teams

Requirements

• Proven experience in an EHS advisory or specialist role within a regulated environment (pharma, biotech, laboratories, or similar)
• Strong knowledge of UK HSE legislation and best practices
• Confident in producing clear, practical EHS documentation (risk assessments, SOPs, COSHH)
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
• NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent) required; NEBOSH Diploma preferred
• Must be able to work fully onsite
