Job Description
EHS Specialist (Contract)
We’re supporting a regulated life sciences site near Oxford that is seeking an experienced EHS Specialist to provide hands-on, onsite support on a short-term contract basis.
Working alongside the site EHS lead, you will play a vital role in ensuring safe and compliant operations across laboratories, facilities, and contractor activities in a fast-moving, regulated environment.
Key Responsibilities
Develop, review, and update risk assessments across laboratory, facility, and construction activities Prepare and deliver EHS training for site personnel Conduct and review COSHH assessments in line with UK legislation Draft, revise, and standardise SOPs to support compliant operations Support incident investigations, including root-cause analysis and corrective actions Review RAMS and Permits to Work for onsite contractors Provide day-to-day EHS guidance and advisory support to operational teams
Requirements
Proven experience in an EHS advisory or specialist role within a regulated environment (pharma, biotech, laboratories, or similar) Strong knowledge of UK HSE legislation and best practices Confident in producing clear, practical EHS documentation (risk assessments, SOPs, COSHH) Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent) required; NEBOSH Diploma Must be able to work fully onsite
