Enterprise Architect Ref. 3658 – Cheltenham Salary: £71,889 to £80,079 inclusive of basic salary, concessionary payment, and skills payments. This range depends on skills and experience. Job Overview As an Enterprise Architect, you’ll lead and support other architects in shaping and embedding GCHQ’s enterprise architecture, with responsibility for a defined remit of one or more departments. You’ll design and guide architectures, influence decision‑making, and manage risk. You’ll act as a trusted advisor, communicating complex topics to stakeholders, and apply your skills to cutting‑edge technology and interesting challenges, furthering your career. Responsibilities You’ll work on a complex portfolio of solutions, designing and maintaining artifacts for programmes and services within your departments, balancing organisational priorities and practical delivery. You'll ensure alignment with long‑term strategic goals, user needs, and industry best practices and may take on line management responsibilities for a small team. You will collaborate with delivery teams, engineers, and business colleagues, working with senior leaders, external partners and industry bodies to shape shared direction and manage dependencies. Occasional travel across the UK may be required. Qualifications Practical experience working as an Enterprise Architect, including leading teams or line‑managing others, and a strong grasp of architecture standards and frameworks such as ArchiMate, TOGAF, Zachman, and MODAF. Ability to translate organisational goals into actionable architectural strategies, lead design initiatives, identify risks and constraints, and optimise environments across technology, data, and processes. Excellent communication skills, collaborative, adept at influencing and negotiating, and adaptive to shifting priorities.
