Job Role: Fire & Security Engineering Manager

Location: Derbyshire, Midlands

Salary: £45,000

Position Type: Full-Time


Role Overview

My client is seeking an experienced Fire & Security Engineering Manager to lead a skilled team of field engineers across the Midlands. This role combines technical leadership, operational oversight, and a strong focus on safety, compliance, and service excellence.


Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Technical Oversight

  • Lead and mentor a team of approximately 20 field engineers.
  • Provide technical support, training, and conduct performance reviews.
  • Maintain strong communication with Service and Project Managers.

Project & Service Management

  • Oversee the full lifecycle of engineering projects including maintenance, installations, and system upgrades.
  • Manage scheduling, resource allocation, and project close-outs.
  • Ensure service delivery meets KPIs, SLAs, and contractual obligations.

Compliance, Safety & Quality

  • Ensure adherence to health & safety regulations and industry standards (e.g., BAFE, NSI, BS EN codes).
  • Conduct site audits, van checks, and inspections to maintain quality and safety benchmarks.

Client & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build and maintain strong client relationships through regular site meetings and inspections.

Operational Efficiency & Resource Management

  • Manage van stock levels, engineer tools, and vehicle fleet maintenance.
  • Identify and implement operational process improvements.


Qualifications & Skills

Experience & Background

  • Strong background in fire and security engineering, ideally with experience in a senior or managerial capacity.
  • In-depth knowledge of Fire Alarms, Intruder Alarms, CCTV, Access Control, and integrated systems.

Leadership & Communication

  • Proven leadership, mentoring, and team coordination skills.
  • Excellent communication abilities for both internal collaboration and client interaction.

Compliance Knowledge

  • Familiarity with UK compliance standards such as NSI Gold and BAFE.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., FIA, BAFE) are highly desirable.

Organisation & Technical Tools

  • Strong organisational and scheduling abilities.
  • Proficiency with relevant project management and design software.

Other Requirements

  • Full UK driving licence.
  • A proactive, quality-driven mindset with a commitment to continual improvement.
