Job Title: Engineering Manager – Electrical Systems\n\nLocation: Barrow-in-Furness / Filton – (Hybrid -2 days a fortnight (Barrow), 1 day a week(Filton) dependent on business needs, also a requirement to visit other sites in the UK on a regular basis)\n\nSalary: Up to Up to £61,967 (Commensurate with skills and experience)\n\nWhat you’ll be doing:\n\nLeading & managing an engineering team to deliver the functional design and definition of Electrical Power Systems equipment\n\nManaging the processes and reviews of technical documentation\n\nManaging associated technical risks, assumptions and dependencies\n\nProviding advice on electrical power technical aspects across a broad range of engineering disciplines\n\nEngaging with customers and suppliers to provide solutions to complex problems\n\nTaking a leading role by guiding the team through the systems definition process\n\nProviding leadership and mentoring of more junior team members to ensure the necessary capability and skills development\n\nYour skills and experiences:\n\nEssential\n\nChartership or working (or prepared to work) towards\n\nEngineering degree or HND with substantial experience in Electrical Engineering design / development\n\nExperience of design / development of power systems (concept through to detailed design)\n\nSignificant knowledge of AC and DC electrical power systems\n\nStrong analytical and problem solving skills\n\nTeam Leadership experience\n\nDesirable\n\nKnowledge of defence standards\n\nExperience of Marine Electrical Systems\n\nExperience of working with engineering life cycle\n\nBenefits\n\nAs well as a competitive pension scheme, BAE Systems also offers employee share plans, an extensive range of flexible discounted health, wellbeing and lifestyle benefits, including a green car scheme, private health plans and shopping discounts – you may also be eligible for an annual incentive.\n\nThe Electrical Power Systems Definition team:\n\nWorking on the UK’s next-generation SSN design that incorporates technology from the UK, Australia and the United States you will be part of the Electrical Power team who are responsible for leading a team of engineers in defining the system elements required to feed into the submarine design and build process, including design documentation, spatial modelling and build outputs. This role will provide you with an opportunity to travel to various locations throughout the UK, including various BAE, customer and supplier sites.
