Employee Relations Business Partner – Fortnum & Mason
Overview
Our Head Office department is located in the heart of Piccadilly on the 5th & 6th floor of our flagship store. We are recruiting for an Employee Relations Business Partner to support employee‑relations (ER) cases and develop a strategy that evolves how we support ER across the business.
Key Accountabilities
Work closely with key stakeholders and anticipate people challenges to prevent escalation.
Serve as the main point of contact with the ER Advisor for all ER queries.
Timely case management of disciplinary, performance, grievance, early conciliation and employment tribunal matters.
Champion mediation before grievance cases and seek new ways to settle disagreements.
Provide technical support on team changes, restructures and redundancies.
Record, report and manage all ER data, preparing the 4‑weekly board report.
Interpret trends and present findings to stakeholders.
Ensure HR databases (Fourth, G Drive) are up to date, accurate and compliant.
Drive improvement in management practices through coaching, training and policy advice.
Conduct exit interviews and manage feedback from leavers.
Embed performance processes and maintain employee effectiveness on the agenda.
Manage and develop the Employee Relations Advisor.
Keep fully conversant with the Employment Rights Bill and key legislative changes.
Contribute to HR projects and provide continuous feedback on HR processes.
Analyse HR data to identify trends and provide insights across business areas.
Provide ad‑hoc reports and source technology to innovate ER processes.
Collaborate with other HR Specialists to ensure a positive employee‑relations framework.
Role Specific Criteria
Ability to challenge, build credibility with a range of audiences and maintain confidentiality.
Excellent communication skills and relationship‑building with key stakeholders.
Strong knowledge of employment law and experience with complex cases.
Pragmatic, resilient problem‑solving and adept at managing upwards.
Exceptional diary management and adaptability to change.
Robust experience of systems, processes and reporting, including Microsoft Office.
