Job Description
As an Electromechanical Technician, you will support the safe, reliable and compliant operation of power supply systems while contributing to engineering projects and continuous improvement across our technical estate.
Specifically, you will act as the Plant Responsible Officer, promoting safety, reporting issues and managing spares and consumables for assigned power supplies. You will also deliver training to operations and maintenance teams and identify opportunities to improve reliability and performance to reduce plant faults.
Supporting the delivery of engineering projects, you will act as a Project Engineer for medium work packages and support larger, multi-year programmes, helping translate modelling and simulation into practical engineering outputs and preparing technical inputs.
Additionally, you will:
- Manage or supervise installation, testing and commissioning activities
- Co-ordinate multidisciplinary teams during work package delivery
- Produce, review and present technical documentation in line with UKAEA standards
- Support compliance with safety and regulatory requirements, including CDM and EAWR
- Oversee the safe and compliant management of SF6 systems
Qualifications
- Apprentice training, with relevant experience working in an industrial environment
- Experience producing written safe systems of work
- Qualification and experience in supervising CDM works, including the supervision of external contractors
- Experience arranging and procuring external engineering services
- Demonstrable knowledge of electrical and mechanical maintenance techniques and industry best practice
- A pressurised water and compressed air qualification, with experience applying system isolations
- A C&G 1788 Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Engineering Maintenance, or a BTEC Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering or a related subject
- A BS7671 18th Edition qualification
