Electro-Mechanical Design Engineer
Salary: £45,000–£55,000
Location: South Cambridgeshire
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Mechanical Design or Manufacturing Engineer to join a well-established and innovative product development company. The company specialises in the design and development of electro-mechanical scientific instrumentation, taking products from initial concept through to full-scale production.
You will be part of a multidisciplinary team, leading the transfer of R&D concepts through to manufacturable products as well as factory testing activities. This role offers an exciting opportunity to make a real impact by working on cutting-edge R&D projects and optimising concepts for seamless manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities:
* Take R&D concepts to a manufacturable product
* Ensure designs are optimised for manufacture and assembly (DFM/DFMA)
* Lead factory acceptance testing
* 3D CAD design
* Build and test prototypes
* Work closely with a cross-functional R&D team across electronics, software, and systems
* Participate in design reviews, problem-solving sessions and continuous improvement initiatives
Skills & Experience Required:
* Strong background in developing electro-mechanical systems
* Previous experience in taking a product to manufacture is a must
* Tooling, jigs and fixture design
* DFM and DFMA experience
* 3D CAD design skills
* Strong understanding of manufacturing techniques
* Knowledge of semi-automated/automated production lines is advantageous
