Zenith People are working closely with our client who are looking to recruit an Electro-Thermal Design Specialist on a permanent basis. This senior technical role provides expert-level leadership in electrothermal analysis for medium- and highvoltage cable systems. The position involves driving analytical excellence, supporting product development, and shaping bestpractice methodologies across the organisation.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nTechnical Leadership & Analysis\n\n * Deliver highlevel technical expertise in electrothermal modelling and analysis for MV/HV cable technologies.\n\n * Lead, manage, and document research and development projects.\n\n * Develop, refine, and maintain cable rating methodologies and analytical strategies.\n\n * Establish standards for technical documentation and reporting.\n\n * Perform advanced scientific calculations, simulations, and analytical studies.\n\n * Collaborate with internal teams, external partners, and suppliers as required.\n\nProduct Lifecycle Support\n\n * Provide technical guidance throughout the full product lifecycle.\n\n * Support activities such as:\n\n * Identifying technical risks and reviewing client specifications\n\n * Addressing nonconformances, design rule deviations, and project concessions\n\n * Responding to complex technical queries, calculations, and analysis requests\n\nInnovation & Continuous Improvement\n\n * Contribute to the development and integration of new technologies, tools, templates, and calculation methods to enhance quality and efficiency.\n\n * Mentor and support engineers at all levels through onthejob training.\n\n * Support wider team objectives and organisational goals as required.\n\nYou’ll Excel in This Role If You Have:\n\nEssential Qualifications & Experience\n\n * A degree (or equivalent) in Engineering—preferably Electrical Engineering or Physics.

Candidates with Mechanical Engineering backgrounds and relevant postgraduate experience will also be considered.\n\n * Significant experience in electromagnetic and thermal analysis using FEA, analytical techniques, and multiphysics simulations, ideally applied to highvoltage cable systems.\n\n * Proficiency with industrystandard simulation tools (e.g., COMSOL, ANSYS) or equivalent proprietary software.\n\n * Deep understanding of thermal rating methodologies and electromagnetic/thermal problemsolving approaches.\n\n * Strong analytical and mathematical capability, including coding/scripting skills (e.g., Python, MATLAB).\n\n * Detailed knowledge of submarine cable design, construction, ratings, and operational considerations.\n\n * Familiarity with relevant industry standards (e.g., IEC, CIGRE) and their application to cable design and thermal rating.\n\n * Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems and perform effectively in fastpaced environments.\n\n * Competence with standard office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).\n\nDesirable Attributes\n\n * A higher degree (MEng, MSc, PhD) in a relevant field; Chartered Engineer status is advantageous.\n\n * Experience working within an R&Dfocused environment.\n\n * A track record of publishing technical papers or contributing to industry forums, working groups, or conferences.\n\n * Experience delivering work within demanding project schedules.\n\n * Broader knowledge of submarine cable or umbilical systems, including areas such as mechanical design, testing, manufacturing, offshore installation, or system operation.\n\n * Familiarity with cable design and rating tools (e.g., CYMCAP).\n\n * Additional experience with advanced FEA tools such as COMSOL or ANSYS.\n\nTo apply please click apply now
