Job Description
Job Title: Electrician\n\nLocation: Glasgow, Govan and Scotstoun, Onsite – Must be able to attend a recruitment day in Glasgow\n\nSalary: £38,662 – plus 33% shift allowance where applicable\n\nShift Pattern: Days – Mon-Thurs, 07:00-16:30, Nights – Mon-Thurs 20:30-06:00, Weekends – Fri-Sun, 07:00-19:30\n\nRequirements: Modern Apprenticeship / Trade Papers must be provided when submitting your application\n\nWho we are:\n\nJoin BAE Systems and you’ll be part of something bigger. You’ll be trusted to play your part in delivering the advanced, technology-led defence, aerospace and security solutions of tomorrow, shaping a safer future, for all of us.\n\nFrom the depths of the ocean, to the far reaches of space, there’s no limit to where a career at BAE Systems could take you.\n\nWhat you’ll be doing:\n\nInstallation of a variety of types of cables (multi-core, single core and co-axial) & electrical systems (junction boxes, fuse panels, consoles, transformers, switches etc.)\n\nCable termination and installation of all electrical equipment\n\nRead and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation\n\nCollaborate with shipbuilding teams to ensure timely and efficient completion of electrical installations\n\nEnsure all work complies with safety and quality standards\n\nCore duties:\n\nYou will have completed a Modern Apprenticeship (SVQ Level 3) or equivalent trade qualification and hold a SJIB card\n\nYou have experience working in marine installations or major industrial environments\n\nYou’re familiar with risk assessments, PUWER, COSHH and safe working requirements\n\nYou can read and follow trade drawings, electrical schematics and technical instructions\n\nYou understand tag‑out processes and know how to conduct safe proving‑dead procedures\n\nYou’re skilled in mounting electrical equipment, earthing components and completing cable terminations to trade standards\n\nThe Electrician Team:\n\nThe electrical team builds the power and control systems that bring our Type 26 frigates to life.
