Job Description
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Electrical Quality Engineer to join our team within the nuclear sector. This is a critical role ensuring that all electrical systems, installations, and components meet the highest standards of safety, compliance, and performance required in a highly regulated environment.\n \n You will play a key role in maintaining nuclear safety standards, supporting quality assurance processes, and ensuring full compliance with statutory regulations and industry codes.\n Key Responsibilities\n \n Perform inspections and verification of electrical installations in line with project specifications and regulatory standards\n\nEnsure compliance with nuclear industry quality standards, including ISO 9001 and site-specific procedures\nReview electrical drawings, test results, and certification documentation\nConduct audits of installation and commissioning activities\nSupport the implementation of Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs)\nIdentify non-conformances and lead root cause analysis and corrective actions\nLiaise with engineering, construction, and commissioning teams to resolve quality issues\nEnsure all work complies with relevant UK regulations (e.g., BS 7671 Wiring Regulations)\nMaintain accurate quality records and support internal/external audits\nCompilation and collation of LTQRs (Lifetime Quality Records) in line with project and regulatory requirements\nPromote a strong safety and quality culture across all activities\n About You\n Essential Qualifications & Experience\n\nRecognised electrical qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Electrical Installation)\nCity & Guilds 2391 (Inspection & Testing)\nCity & Guilds 2382 (18th Edition)\nProven experience in an electrical quality, inspection, or commissioning role\nStrong knowledge of BS 7671 and electrical compliance requirements\nExperience working in highly regulated environments (nuclear, defence, oil & gas, or similar)\n Desirable Skills\n\nPrevious experience on nuclear sites or major infrastructure projects\nKnowledge of nuclear quality standards and documentation practices\nFamiliarity with quality tools (e.g., root cause analysis, audits, ITPs)\nUnderstanding of safety case requirements and compliance frameworks\nUnderstanding of the Machinery Directive\nKnowledge of BS EN 60204 (Safety of machinery - electrical equipment)\n Personal Attributes\n\nStrong attention to detail and commitment to safety and quality\nExcellent problem-solving and analytical skills\nConfident communicator with the ability to challenge and influenceAbility to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team\n\nPlease click to find out more about our Key Information Documents.
