Electrical & Mechanical Estimator – 6 Month Contract
Location: Sheffield
Contract Length: Minimum 6 months
Day Rate: £380 – £400 per day (DOE)
Start Date: Immediate
The Opportunity
We are working with a well-established specialist M&E subcontractor delivering a range of projects across the retail and warehousing sectors. Projects include both new build and refurbishment schemes, with values ranging from £250k to £5 million.
Due to continued workload, they are seeking an experienced Electrical & Mechanical Estimator to support the pre-construction and commercial teams on a contract basis.
Key Responsibilities
* Preparing accurate mechanical and electrical cost estimates across all project stages
* Producing feasibility and concept budgets
* Managing pre-construction estimating activities
* Pricing variations and supporting commercial negotiations
* Assisting with final accounts as required
* Working collaboratively with design, commercial, and delivery teams
Experience & Technical Knowledge Required
Proven Experience In:
* Building services / M&E contracting environment
* Pre-construction estimating
* Feasibility and concept budgeting
* Variation pricing
* Final account support
Strong Technical Understanding Of:
Mechanical:
* Plant schedules and factors
* Heating and chilled water systems
* Ventilation systems and ductwork
* Sanitaryware and drainage
* Valves, isolation, brackets, and fixings
* Insulation
* Design responsibility splits across trades
Electrical:
* Electrical distribution boards
* Containment strategies
* Cabling
* Lighting and controls
* Small power
* Earthing and bonding
Qualifications
* Degree in Engineering or NVQ equivalent
* Minimum 3 years’ practical experience in an M&E estimating role
