Electrical Engineer (Automation/Projects)
Location: Keele (Hybrid – 3 days onsite, 2 from home)

The Role
We are looking for an Electrical Engineer to join a busy projects team, supporting the design and delivery of electrical and automation systems for both standard and customer-specific solutions.
You will play a key role across the full project lifecycle, from bid support through to commissioning, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing the electrical scope of multiple mid to large-scale projects in line with timelines and budgets
- Designing complete electrical systems, including control, starter and HMI panels
- Producing wiring diagrams using CAD software and preparing technical documentation and O&M manuals
- Creating RFQs and specifications for control panels and electrical components
- Supporting procurement activities and ensuring cost optimisation through design and sourcing
- Participating in proposal and sales support activities
- Conducting FAT (Factory Acceptance Testing) for engineered solutions
- Providing technical support during commissioning, both remotely and on-site
About You
To be successful in this role, you will be a motivated and experienced Electrical Engineer with a strong foundation in engineering principles and a proactive, customer-focused approach.
You will also have:
- The ability to read, interpret, and modify electrical schematics
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and stakeholders
- Excellent communication skills, both internally and with customers
- A commercial mindset and the ability to provide clear project updates
- A self-driven and structured approach, with the confidence to take ownership of tasks
Experience & Qualifications
- HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering (degree preferred) or equivalent experience
- Strong knowledge of UK electrical standards and WIMES specifications
- Understanding of ATEX / DSEAR regulations
- Experience with motors, VFDs, pumps, flow meters, sensors, and control valves
- Working knowledge of PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems (e.g. Siemens, Allen-Bradley, B&R)
- Familiarity with industrial communication protocols
