Electrical Design Engineer (Mid–Senior Level)\n\nDesign & Build | Clean & Wastewater Infrastructure\nManchester | Hybrid / Flexible Working\nPermanent\n\nOur client is a specialist engineering company across clean and wastewater infrastructure projects throughout the UK. Working closely with tier-one contractors and framework partners, they deliver robust, buildable electrical designs across treatment works, pumping stations, and network assets.\n\nDue to continued growth, they are seeking a mid-to-senior Electrical Design Engineer to join their Manchester-based team.\n\nThe Role\n\nYou will be involved in the full D&B design lifecycle, producing practical, construction-ready electrical designs and supporting projects through delivery. Key responsibilities include:\n\nElectrical design from outline design through to detailed design and construction issue\n\nDevelopment of buildable LV electrical designs including power distribution, MCCs, switchgear, control panels, standby , and earthing/bonding\n\nPreparation of electrical calculations such as load schedules, cable sizing, fault levels, and protection coordination\n\nProduction and coordination of electrical drawings including single line diagrams, schematics, layouts, and cable schedules\n\nClose coordination with mechanical, civil, ICA, and construction teams to resolve buildability, sequencing, and installation challenges\n\nTechnical review of supplier and subcontractor design information\n\nSupport during construction, commissioning, and handover phases\n\nEnsuring compliance with BS 7671, WIMES, DSEAR, CDM, and client standards\n\nAbout You\n\nYou will ideally have:\n\nA qualification in Electrical Engineering (degree, HNC/HND, or equivalent)\n\nProven experience delivering electrical design within D&B water or wastewater projects\n\nStrong understanding of construction-stage design development and contractor interfaces\n\nExperience working with MCC suppliers and electrical subcontractors\n\nFamiliarity with electrical design tools such as Amtech/Trimble and AutoCAD\n\nA pragmatic, delivery-focused approach to engineering design\n\nClear communication skills and confidence working in fast-paced project environments\n\nWorking towards or holding Chartered Engineer status (IET or equivalent) would be beneficial but is not essential.\n\nThis role will suit an Electrical Design Engineer who enjoys hands-on design, contractor collaboration, and seeing projects through to delivery.\n\nApply now or contact us for a confidential discussion
