Electrical Controls Engineer
Salary: £50,000 - £55,000 (dependent on experience and skillset) plus annual discretionary performance bonus, up to £3,000
Location: Wolverhampton
Hours of work: 40 hours per week
We are seeking an experienced Electrical Controls Engineer to join our team. This role involves designing, developing, and commissioning advanced control systems for electro-mechanical machinery.
The Role
Develop and modify software using LabVIEW and Siemens platforms.
Produce wiring diagrams and schematic drawings for control cabinets and field installations using E-Plan.
Diagnose faults in existing electro-mechanical systems.
Design and integrate upgrades to control systems.
Commission and test new machines, including software created in-house.
Contribute to sales proposals and prepare designs for manufacture.
Collaborate with external suppliers and supervise electrical technicians.
Oversee electrical build projects and subcontractors.
Travel to UK customer sites for installations (occasional overnight stays required).

Skills & Experience
You will previously have worked as a PLC programmer, automation engineer, controls engineer, industrial drives engineer, electrical design engineer, automation design engineer, EC&I engineer, production engineer or electrical engineer, along with experience in the below:
Siemens PLC programming (TIA Portal, WinCC) – S7-1500/1200, Safety PLCs, Ladder Logic.
Siemens & Control Techniques Drives (G120/S120, M700).
Electrical CAD design using E-Plan (2D layouts, multi-line diagrams, parts specification).
LabVIEW experience.
Knowledge of UK Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations & EU Machinery Directive.
Methodical, accurate, and strong communicator.
Full UK Driving Licence.
