Electrical Commissioning Engineer

Were working with a well-established, global engineering business delivering complex industrial systems into sectors such as mining, energy, and heavy industry. Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint an Electrical Commissioning Engineer to support major UK projects.
This is a hands-on, site-focused role, ideal for someone who enjoys working on large-scale industrial systems rather than clean or factory-only environments.
The Role Youll be responsible for the installation, pre-commissioning, commissioning, and fault finding of heavy industrial equipment on customer sites.
This is a highly site-based position,with current project work focused in North Yorkshire and Cornwall, alongside wider UK support.
What Really Matters This role will suit someone who:
Comes from a heavy industrial background (e.g. oil & gas, power generation, mining, steel, rail)
Is hands-on electrically, comfortable working on large industrial machinery and systems
Has experience across installation, testing, and fault finding in live environments
Is confident working on-site for extended periods, not just office or design-based roles
Controls & PLC Exposure Experience with Siemens S7 (1200/1500) is important
You do not need to be a software engineer
You do need to be comfortable fault finding across electrical and PLC-controlled systems
Open to developing further in automation and controls
Working Environment Site-based roleand shift work
Regular overtime available
Frequent UK travel (primarily North Yorkshire & Cornwall)
Working on large, complex, industrial installations
Key Responsibilities Coordinate and carry out electrical commissioning activities on-site
Support installation and oversee system integration
Perform testing, validation, and fault finding on equipment
Produce reports and ensure compliance with technical specifications
Carry out minor modifications, snagging, and system improvements
Work closely with engineering and project teams to resolve technical issues
About You Time-served engineer with an electrical or multi-skilled background
HNC/HND (or equivalent) in Electrical, Mechanical, or related discipline
Strong problem-solving skills
Professional and reliable on-site
A strong communicator
Adaptable and willing to support different projects as the business grows
Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel
Package £45,000 £65,000 basic salary
