Commissioning Engineer (Generators & Control Systems)

Location: UK-Wide (Regular Travel Required)

The Company

Neos Engineering are partnered with a leading engineering organisation delivering critical power solutions across the UK. Due to continued growth, they are now looking to appoint an experienced Commissioning Engineer with a strong background in generator and control systems.

The Role

As a Commissioning Engineer, you will be responsible for the commissioning, testing, and support of power generation and control systems. You will play a key role in delivering projects across a range of environments, ensuring systems are fully operational, compliant, and integrated.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out generator commissioning, including testing, fault finding, and performance verification

  • Commission and support mains synchronisation systems, ensuring seamless integration

  • Work with AMF, synchronising, and load sharing control systems

  • Configure and test Deep Sea Electronics (DSE) and ComAp control panels

  • Commission Automatic Bus Controllers (ABCs) and associated systems

  • Interpret electrical schematics and support control panel design and build

  • Perform on-site diagnostics, troubleshooting, and rectification of faults

  • Ensure all work is carried out in line with health & safety standards

  • Provide technical support to clients and internal teams

  • Produce commissioning reports and documentation

Skills & Experience Required
  • Proven experience in generator commissioning

  • Strong knowledge of mains synchronisation and load sharing systems

  • Hands-on experience with:

    • Deep Sea Electronics (DSE) controllers

    • ComAp controllers

  • Experience with Automatic Bus Controllers (ABCs)

  • Strong electrical fault finding and diagnostic skills

  • Ability to work independently on-site

  • Excellent communication and reporting skills

Qualifications
  • Relevant electrical engineering qualification (HNC/HND, NVQ or equivalent)

  • Full UK Driving Licence

Desirable Experience
  • Experience within critical power environments (data centres, hospitals, utilities)

  • Exposure to water industry / water board projects

  • Knowledge of PLC systems and integration

  • Previous client-facing commissioning experience
