About the Role - Temporary - PermanentWe are hiring for a specialist provider of gate automation, access control, and barrier systems that is growing. We're looking for a skilled Electrical Assembly Technician / Panel Builder to join the workshop team and play a central role in building, wiring, and testing the control panels that sit at the heart of our systems.This is a hands-on role for someone who takes pride in quality workmanship, can follow technical drawings with precision, and wants to grow within a company that operates at the technical forefront of gate and access control technology. Our client genuinely cares about their people and wishes to progress personnel through the ranks with support when met with desire, aptitude and commitment.What You'll Be DoingAssembling and wiring control panels for automated gates, barriers, and entry systemsWiring motor controllers, safety devices, and control interfaces to specificationReading and working from electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and layout drawingsIntegrating components including photocells, safety edges, loop detectors, intercoms, and keypadsCarrying out functional testing motor direction, limit switching, and safety circuitsSupporting basic fault-finding and diagnostics on assembled systemsWorking closely with engineering and installation teams to ensure smooth project deliveryMaintaining a clean, safe, and organised working environment throughoutWhat We're Looking ForEssential:Proven experience in electrical assembly, wiring, or control panel buildingAbility to read and interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams independentlyFamiliarity with low-voltage control systems and componentsConfident use of hand tools, crimpers, and cable preparation equipmentStrong attention to detail and commitment to qualityDesirable (not essential we'll train the right person):Experience in gate automation, access control, barriers, or security systemsKnowledge of photocells, loop detectors, GSM intercoms, or access control devicesBasic understanding of PLCs or programmable controllersElectrical qualifications (NVQ Level 2/3, City & Guilds or equivalent)Awareness of relevant standards machinery safety, low voltage directives, BS/EN standardsWho You AreYou're reliable, methodical, and you care about getting the job done right. You work well independently but know when to ask questions.
