* You earn 40% of the Adjusted Subtotal each month

* Fuel costs are deducted from your monthly share

* Materials & plant hire costs are deducted at ~10% of your total invoiced value

* Monthly invoicing subtotal: £20,000

* Materials/plant deduction (10%): £3,500

* Adjusted subtotal: £16,500

* Engineer’s 40% share: £6,600

* Fuel cost deduction: £300

* Total payment: £6,300
