Job Description
Job Title: Diving and Maritime Assistant Supervisor\n\nLocation: HM Naval Base, Portsmouth\n\nService Area: Asset Management, Diving Services\n\nHours of Work: 45 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 07:30-17:15\n\nSalary: £48,000 - £50,000\n\nWhat you'll be doing:\n\nWe’re looking for an Assistant Dive Supervisor to support and occasionally step up into the Dive Supervisor role.\n\n * You’ll play a key part in delivering reactive and planned diving and maritime operations across Portsmouth, ensuring all work is carried out safely, professionally, and to the highest standards.\n\n * This is a role for someone who’s hands-on, safety‑driven, and eager to lead when required — whether that’s overseeing a dive, coordinating documentation, or supporting the wider diving team.\n\nWhat you will bring:\n\n * You’re a pro-active, organised and collaborative Diver who communicates clearly and confidently, leading to great relationships and influence being built.\n\n * Your strong professional safety experience and demonstrable technical judgement will ensure you lead with integrity, while embodying KBS Maritime’s values.\n\n * As a motivated and eager Diver, you will deliver results even when having to navigate challenges – something you that pride in.\n\nAbout you:\n\n * A valid First Aid at Work certificate\n\n * An in‑date ADC Supervisor Certificate\n\n * A strong understanding of the Diving at Work Regulations 1997, ACoP L104, and HSEG 3003\n\n * Competence in writing and reviewing dive documentation\n\n * HSE‑approved Surface Supplied certification (minimum)\n\n * Experience with underwater husbandry and civil engineering techniques\n\n * Medical fitness to undertake commercial diving duties\n\n * Good working knowledge of MS Office\n\n * Eligibility to obtain UK security clearance\n\n * Full UK driving licence\n\nEven better if you have (or want to gain!):\n\n * Confined Space training\n\n * Rigging & slinging qualifications\n\n * HP water jetting & chainsaw certification\n\n * RYA Level 2 Powerboat or Sea Survival\n\n * Lift Supervisor training\n\nYou’ll get:\n\nA competitive salary\n\n25 days holiday plus bank holidays\n\nHoliday purchase scheme, following successful completion of probation period\n\nDiscretionary company bonus scheme\n\nEnhanced pension scheme – employee contribution 4% and company contribution 6%, or the employee can increase their contribution to 6% and company contribution 8%\n\nLife assurance x 4 (subject to scheme T&C’s)\n\nAccess to our internal benefits and discounts programme for all colleagues\n\nCycle to work scheme\n\nGroup income protection\n\nFlexible parental benefits (if applicable)\n\nFree parking onsite\n\nAccess to our Internal employee assistance network, giving you the opportunity to reach the heights of success within your new position.\n\nContinued professional career development\n\nKudos reward opportunities (internal achievements scheme)\n\nOccupational Health & Wellbeing Services\n\n50% off entry into the Historic Dockyard\n\nBackground checks & security\n\nPlease note that due to the nature of the site we are based on and the work carried out, once offered we carry out a number of pre-employment checks which include UKSV clearance applications – you will need to be eligible for this and willing to go through the process.
