Director of Membership & Marketing

Independent, not-for-profit, cross-sector membership organisation

Westminster, Central London (Hybrid working)

Permanent, Full Time

Salary: £80,000–£90,000 plus a comprehensive benefits package including enhanced annual leave (33 days including bank holidays plus birthday leave), festive office closure, pension scheme, healthcare cash plan, critical illness cover, gym discounts, technology vouchers, dining and activity passes, EAP and wellbeing support.


Membership Bespoke is working with an independent, not-for-profit, cross-sector membership organisation based in Westminster to recruit a Director of Membership & Marketing.


Our client sits at the heart of cross-sector collaboration in the UK, convening senior leaders from government, business and the not-for-profit sector to tackle some of the most pressing economic, policy and leadership challenges facing the country. Through high-level dialogue, research and convening activity, the organisation plays a unique role in shaping thinking and enabling practical collaboration across sectors.


This is a pivotal Executive-level appointment, leading a newly formed directorate spanning Membership, Partnerships and Marketing. The role is responsible for designing and delivering an integrated growth strategy that strengthens member value, drives revenue and elevates the organisation’s profile and influence.


Key responsibilities


Directorate strategy and revenue leadership

Own and deliver an integrated strategy across membership, partnerships and marketing aligned to organisational growth objectives

Lead revenue generation across membership, partnerships and sponsorship activity

Contribute to organisational strategy as a member of the Executive team

Marketing strategy and brand leadership

Lead the development of a refreshed marketing and communications strategy

Own brand positioning and ensure consistency across all channels

Enhance external profile through content, events and digital presence

Senior stakeholder engagement

Build and maintain relationships with senior leaders across sectors

Act as a commercial ambassador at CEO, Board and senior government level

Membership growth and retention

Oversee delivery of membership growth and retention targets

Champion a high-quality, data-led member experience

Partnerships and commercial development

Lead development of partnerships, sponsorship and bespoke programmes

Ensure a strong commercial pipeline and innovative income streams

Team leadership

Lead and develop a multi-disciplinary team

Foster a high-performance, collaborative and commercially focused culture


About you


Significant senior leadership experience across membership, marketing or commercial functions

Proven track record of driving growth and revenue in a membership or mission-driven organisation

Strong brand and marketing leadership capability

Experience building senior-level relationships across sectors

Commercially astute with strong strategic thinking skills

Experience leading and developing high-performing teams

Strong interest in public policy, leadership and cross-sector collaboration
