Overview Director of Data, AI and Analytics – London/Hybrid – 9-to-12-month Fixed term Contract What if you could shape how data is used to drive decision making across a complex international insurer? As Director of Data, AI and Analytics, you’ll play a critical leadership role in defining and delivering the European Operations (EO) data, analytics and AI strategy. You will be accountable for EO’s end-to-end AI agenda: setting strategic direction and investment priorities, establishing the governance, controls and operating model, and ensuring delivery of scalable, secure and value-generating AI solutions (including appropriate model risk management and Responsible AI standards). You’ll also be accountable for data governance, management information, analytics capability, data quality, data engineering and AI engineering, ensuring the business has trusted, timely and actionable insights to support strategic and regulatory decision-making. Your new role As Director of Data, AI and Analytics, you will assume overall responsibility for EO’s data and analytics capability, including:
Setting and delivering the EO data and analytics strategy Ownership of data governance, data engineering, data management and MI platforms Oversight of data tooling, architecture and analytics capability across EO Leading teams and processes responsible for data extraction, manipulation and MI production Sponsoring and delivering change initiatives to improve the quality, efficiency and value of data and MI Providing data and analytics expertise to support key programmes and projects Acting as a data leader and advocate, raising data literacy and awareness across EO Ensuring data quality governance and compliance with Solvency II and relevant Lloyd’s regulatory requirements Working closely with Group, Change and Technology to ensure appropriate data architecture and oversight frameworks Managing delivery against cost targets and ensuring effective controls across the data function Defining and delivering EO’s AI strategy and roadmap, aligned to business outcomes and regulatory expectations Owning the EO AI use-case portfolio and investment priorities, including intake, prioritisation, value tracking and benefits realisation Establishing AI governance, controls and operating model across EO (including decision rights, standards, assurance and reporting) Ensuring AI solutions meet Responsible AI and model risk management expectations (e.g., bias/fairness testing, explainability, privacy/security, documentation and auditability) Sponsoring and overseeing end-to-end delivery of AI solutions from concept to production, including MLOps/LLMOps, monitoring, performance management and lifecycle controls
About you You’ll bring a strong mix of strategic leadership, operational delivery and stakeholder influence, including:
Proven experience developing and executing data and analytics strategy within a large, complex organisation Experience creating, transforming or leading a large data or analytics function Senior‑level operational leadership experience, ideally within insurance or financial services Strong background in programme, project and change delivery Demonstrated ability to lead, inspire and develop large teams across multiple locations Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at executive level Strong commercial and strategic insight, linking data capability to business outcomes
