Job Title: Head of Building Surveying
Location: Manchester Office
About the Role
The firm is seeking a commercially driven leader to establish and grow its Building Surveying service line in Manchester. This is a strategic hire with a strong emphasis on business creation, market positioning, and team leadership rather than purely technical delivery.
The successful candidate will be responsible for building a new service offering, developing a client base, and leading a growing team, playing a pivotal role in the firms regional expansion.
Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic Growth & Leadership
  • Lead the establishment and strategic growth of a new Building Surveying service line in Manchester
  • Develop and execute a clear business plan to drive revenue and market presence
  • Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing team as the service line expands
  • Create a strong team culture focused on collaboration, performance, and growth
Business Development
  • Identify and secure new business opportunities across key sectors
  • Demonstrate a strong ability to win new business and generate sustainable revenue
  • Build and maintain senior client relationships
  • Position the firm as a leading provider of building surveying services in the region
Client & Project Oversight
  • Oversee delivery of projects, ensuring quality and client satisfaction
  • Provide strategic advice to clients across a range of property matters
  • Collaborate with other service lines to drive cross-selling opportunities
Commercial & Operational Input
  • Drive financial performance of the service line, including budgeting and forecasting
  • Monitor market trends and identify opportunities for growth and differentiation
  • Contribute to the wider regional and national business strategy

Key Requirements
  • Proven ability to strategically grow a new service line or business unit
  • Strong commercial mindset with a passion for business development and leadership
  • Demonstrable success in winning new business and building client relationships
  • Experience leading and scaling teams
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills
  • Entrepreneurial approach with the drive to build something from the ground up

Desirable Skills & Experience
  • Background in building surveying or a related property discipline (MRICS not essential)
  • Established network within the Manchester and wider North West property market
  • Experience working within a consultancy environment
  • Track record of growing revenue and market share
