The National Liberal Club is seeking a capable and dynamic Dining Room Assistant Manager to take a leading role in the daily operation of the Clubs dining facilities. This role supports the Dining Room & Bar Manager, Executive Chef, and Head of Food & Beverage, acting as Duty Manager when required and ensuring the smooth, efficient, and polished running of the dining room. The post-holder will champion service excellence, team training, SOP development, and operational leadership across front-of-house. Responsibilities also include oversight of summer dining operations on the Terrace and supporting other areas of the business as needed. Key Responsibilities Lead the dining room floor during service, ensuring smooth guest flow and exceptional service standards. Act as Duty Manager when rostered, ensuring strong leadership and decision-making. Support day-to-day operations in partnership with the Dining Room & Bar Manager. Supervise breakfast, lunch, dinner, and private event services. Oversee staff performance, providing clear direction and maintaining high professional standards. Develop, implement, and monitor Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all service areas. Lead staff training programmes, including service standards, member etiquette, and operational skills. Manage booking systems, table allocations, and service pacing. Maintain close communication with the Executive Chef and kitchen team. Support private hires, functions, and club events as required. Oversee POS operation and ensure accurate reconciliation. Build and maintain strong relationships with club members in a professional, discreet manner. Ensure compliance with health, safety, food hygiene, and licensing regulations. Support cross-department operations when required (e.g., events, bar, Terrace service). Take responsibility for the operation and management of summer dining on the Terrace. Contribute to continuous improvement in service quality and operational efficiency. Skills & Experience Experience as a Dining Room Supervisor or Assistant Manager in a similar environment. Experience within private members clubs, luxury hotels, or fine dining establishments. Exceptional customer service and communication skills. Good wine knowledge. Strong IT literacy, including booking platforms and club management systems. Proficiency with POS systems. Excellent organisation, attention to detail, and floor-management ability. Proven ability to train, mentor, and develop staff. Professional appearance and ability to remain calm under pressure. Warm, people-focused approach. Preferred Qualifications Experience working in a private members club. Understanding of club etiquette and member expectations.
