Designer / Project Engineer – Experience Design & Heritage Projects\n\nAre you a designer ready to take the next step towards a career in project management?\n\nAre you a experienced designer who is looking to transition into a Project Manager role—with support and development.\n\nWe’re particularly interested in individuals with a background in heritage, exhibitions, museums, retail, or other niche creative sectors, especially those who have worked on unusual, highly creative, or standout projects.\n\nThis is a rare opportunity to join a world-class team delivering high-profile projects across the UK, Ireland, and internationally, while being mentored into a fully-fledged Project Manager.\n\nThe Role\n\nAs a Designer / Project Engineer, you’ll still contribute creatively while beginning your journey into project management. You’ll support the delivery of projects and gain hands-on experience across bidding, design coordination, and project execution.\n\nWorking closely with senior Project Managers and Technical Directors, you’ll gradually take on more responsibility, ultimately progressing to managing projects from concept through to completion.\n\nProjects include museums, cultural destinations, heritage sites, and immersive visitor attractions.\n\nWhat You’ll Bring\n\nAround 4+ years’ experience in a design-based role.\nBackground in heritage, museum, exhibition, leisure, retail, or visitor-attraction projects—or other niche/creative sectors.\nExperience working on unusual, complex, or highly creative projects is highly desirable.\nAny exposure to project management (even at an assistant or support level) is beneficial.\nUnderstanding of design processes, RIBA stages, and contracts (JCT/NEC) is advantageous.\nAwareness of H&S, CDM regulations, building regulations, accessibility, and sustainability.\nAny experience with budgeting, scheduling, or resource planning is a plus.\nKnowledge of funding bodies such as NLHF, Fáilte Ireland, or Arts Council is desirable.\nStrong communication skills, attention to detail, and a proactive, collaborative mindset.\n\nLocation & Working Style\n\nBased in Leicester city centre\nOccasional travel across the UK and internationally\nSome out-of-hours work may be required\nFull driving licence and valid passport required\n\nSalary & Benefits\n\n£35,000 – £45,000 per annum (depending on experience)\nStructured progression into Project Management\nOngoing training, mentorship, and development\nOpportunity to work with a globally recognised creative agency on unique, high-profile projects\nIf you are passionate about delivering memorable visitor experiences and thrive in a fast-paced, creative environment, this is an ideal opportunity to progress your career in project management.\n\nTo be considered for this role please either hit the 'Apply' button on this site or email your CV directly to I can also be contacted directly on (phone number removed).
