OverviewMurphy is recruiting for a Design Manager to join our growing Infrastructure team, delivering a major water infrastructure project in partnership with United Utilities, as part of the AMP8 programme.Murphy is a long-standing delivery partner to leading water clients across the UK and Ireland, including Thames Water, Severn Trent, Northern Ireland Water, Yorkshire Water, SES Water, Bristol Water, South East Water, and Uisce Éireann, where we operate over 25 facilities under full DBOM contracts.ResponsibilitiesProduce design briefs for permanent worksEnsure consultants are appointed appropriatelyLead technical reviews of submissions from our design partnersEnsure conformance to the Murphy Design Management procedureLead design matters on small/medium/large/mega sized project/s as directedAllocate design tasks to individuals/companies as required and maintain associated RACIManage day to day interface between design and construction teams and maintain its adequate recordsReview design progress according to programme and contractual requirementsLead constructability reviewsInvolvement in work winning to ensure consultants are engaged appropriately and adequate allowances are included in the bidAssist Senior Design Managers, consultants and multi-discipline engineering teams to deliver the design solutions to schedule and budget to a high standard of professional competenceManagement of design change to support best outcome for the projectSupport with management of risk and opportunity in designQualificationsSignificant experience in a design management role within the construction sector.Management skills – confident in managing staff, clients, design budgets and programmesFlexibility and willingness to travelHND or Engineering Degree qualifiedMember of a recognised engineering institution.
