Job Title: Design Manager - Highways Location: Can be based anywhere in Yorkshire, North West or Midlands (Hybrid working is available too) Salary: £75,000 + Package Role As an experienced Design Manager, you will have a key role in the design process of new Highways projects. You will lead and coordinate the full design process, working closely with a multidisciplinary team to ensure projects align with client requirements and regulatory standards. This role carries responsibility for maintaining exceptional design quality, ensuring all elements are delivered with accuracy, consistency, and efficiency to meet project objectives. Requirements
Proven track record of working on Highways Civils schemes is essential Extensive background within the industry with at least 3 years of experience working in a Design Management or similar position for a leading Civils contractor or subcontractor
Responsibilities
Cost control Liaise with stakeholders Progress reporting / monitoring Chair regular design team meetings Create and sustain the project's design management plan Deliver support and technical guidance to clients and stakeholders Identify possible design obstacles and develop practical, forward‑thinking solutions Manage design modifications, ensuring that changes are accurately documented and communicated Develop and execute design strategies ensuring they align with project objectives and business goals Contribute to team success by supporting others and fostering a culture of collaboration and inclusivity Generate creative design solutions in response to client briefs, integrating feedback from the design team Coordinate and direct design activities throughout projects, ensuring consistency with timelines, deliverables, regulatory frameworks, and corporate standards Support the development and enhancement of design management processes, ensuring they remain efficient and fit for purpose Liaise with internal departments, clients, and external partners to identify requirements and develop efficient, compliant design responses Review and approve design plans, drawings, and specifications to ensure they adhere to required standards and guidelines Maintain exceptional standards of design quality and consistency, ensuring compliance with client specifications and regulatory requirements
