Salary: Up to £85k DOE + £5,500 Car Allowance & Benefits Office base North Manchester - Hybrid role Full-time, Permanent About the Company An award-winning, family-owned construction business based in Manchester, delivering high-quality projects across the built environment. The Role A newly created opportunity within the Building Refurbishment division for an experienced Design & Compliance Manager. Reporting to the Construction Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring all projects meet current legislation, regulatory standards, and best practice across design and delivery. This role will suit someone with a strong background in complex refurbishment schemes, including high-rise, retrofit, and listed buildings. You will be responsible for driving compliance, managing risk, and ensuring design integrity across all stages of the project lifecycle. Key Responsibilities Provide advice, support, and mentorship to project teams, promoting best practice and collaboration Lead on Design & Compliance throughout procurement, construction, and handover Ensure alignment with statutory and regulatory frameworks (e.g. Building Safety Act, Gateway requirements, PAS 2035) Review tender and design documentation, identifying risks and advising on mitigation strategies Manage Gateway 2 and Gateway 3 submissions Oversee projects from feasibility through to completion, ensuring compliance and safety at all stages Work closely with Health & Safety, Commercial, and Delivery teams Coordinate architects, engineers, and specialist consultants Lead design reviews, risk workshops, and technical approvals Support client relationships and contribute to business development activities Develop and implement internal procedures, compliance frameworks, and best practices Requirements Proven experience in a similar Design & Compliance or Technical role within construction Strong background in refurbishment, xehkeey high-rise, retrofit, or heritage projects In-depth knowledge of Building Regulations, the Building Safety Act, and PAS 2035/2038 Ability to interpret complex legislation and technical documentation Strong organisational and communication skills Proactive approach to risk management and problem-solving Whats on Offer Salary between £65,000 £85,000 depending on experience £5,500 car allowance Enhanced pension contribution Life assurance Private healthcare 26 days holiday + bank holidays Hybrid and flexible working options Access to training and development platforms Please email or call to apply
