Job Description

Role: Design Manager\n\nLocation: Manchester\n\nSalary: c£70k+ (Depending on Experience)\n\nManage designers and design delivery across multi-disciplinary teams within the water industry ensuring time and quality expectations\n\nJob Description\n\n * Manage, direct and develop engineers, CAD technicians and graduates\n\n * Grow the design team and maintain a positive ethos and attitude within the team\n\n * Lead the design process on multidisciplinary water industry projects\n\n * Challenge, improve and shape formal processes and procedures for design team and ensure work is undertaken using them\n\n * Identify and implement appropriate software packages, and drive the use of BIM and 3D modelling where necessary\n\n * Ensure team produce design deliverables that satisfy safety and quality requirements and are fully integrated\n\n * Ensure team produce design deliverables within agreed timescales and hours\n\n * Ensure team use appropriate standards, best practice and software tools\n\n * Ensure project change for design packages is fully recorded\n\n * Assist with estimating hours required for design packages\n\nExperience Required\n\n * 10 years’ experience working in the engineering design industry in a regulated sector such as: Rail, Water, Oil and gas, Nuclear, Highways, Bridges\n\n * Graduate or HND\n\n * Good level IT\n\nExperience \n\n * Experience in regulated water industry\n\n * Track record managing multidisciplinary design teams and projects\n\n * Experience building teams and capability of junior staff\n\n * Driving licence & access to vehicle\n\n * Chartered engineer or working towards chartership
