Job Description I’m working with a well-established main contractor in Central Scotland who is looking to appoint an experienced Design Manager to join their technical team. As Design Manager, you’ll play a crucial role in guiding projects from tender through to handover, ensuring technical excellence and smooth coordination throughout the design process. You’ll be involved in a range of new build design and build schemes that will test and develop both your leadership and technical capabilities.
Manage the full design development process, from tender concept through to detailed design and delivery, within a main contracting environment.
- Lead and coordinate design meetings with clients, consultants, and key project stakeholders.
- Review design information, identifying risks, opportunities, and value-engineering solutions.
- Maintain strong commercial awareness, understanding how design decisions impact cost and programme.
- Proven experience in a Design Manager role within a main contractor setting.
- Strong technical background with the ability to interrogate design information.
- Commercially aware, organised, and proactive in driving design solutions.
