Wastewater Design Engineer (Contract)Rate: £500 per dayLocation: UK (Hybrid/Remote options depending on candidate)Contract: OngoingStart: ASAPA leading Tier 1 utilities contractor is seeking an experienced Wastewater Design Engineer to support major infrastructure programmes. This is an exceptional opportunity to join a high-performing team delivering critical water & wastewater projects across the UK.We are looking for a design-trained engineer with a strong background working on wastewater treatment, networks, or infrastructure schemes ideally with experience from the major water frameworks (e.g., Thames Water, Severn Trent, Anglian Water, United Utilities, Yorkshire Water) or similar top-tier utility environments.You will play a key technical role reviewing, challenging, and refining design packages before final submission to client partners, ensuring quality, compliance, and constructability.Key ResponsibilitiesReview and assess wastewater design packages for accuracy, safety, and complianceIdentify design clashes, risks, and opportunities for optimisationProvide technical engineering input to ensure buildability and cost-effectivenessLiaise closely with internal engineering teams and external design consultantsEnsure all documentation meets standards before final submissionSupport continuous improvement in design processes and quality assuranceRequirementsMinimum 5 years experience in wastewater design within major utilities projectsExperience working with or for Tier 1 water companies (e.g., Thames Water etc.)Strong technical understanding of wastewater treatment, networks, pumps, civils or MEICA elementsEngineering-trained with hands-on design background (Civil, Mechanical, Environmental, or Water Engineering preferred)Ability to review, correct, and refine designs prior to client submissionStrong communication skills and attention to technical detailWhy Apply?Work with a respected contractor delivering flagship water & wastewater schemesOpportunity to influence high-value design packagesStable, long-term contracting opportunityCompetitive £300/day rateJoin a collaborative, technically focused teamJBRP1_UKTJ
