Design Engineer\n\nAn established engineering and manufacturing business based in Portsmouth is looking for a Design Engineer to join its expanding technical team. With a strong reputation in the aerospace and defence sectors, the company delivers advanced engineering solutions and is committed to developing its employees’ skills and careers.\n\nThis is an exciting opportunity for a motivated Design Engineer to work on projects from initial concept through to production, contributing to the development of high-quality, safety-critical products. You’ll collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams, ensuring designs are robust, cost-effective and compliant with industry standards.\n\nKey Responsibilities:\n\n * Develop design concepts and create detailed manufacturing drawings.\n\n * Produce technical documentation, reports, and presentations for internal and client reviews.\n\n * Support testing activities, including defining and witnessing qualification tests.\n\n * Collaborate with engineers, project teams, and management to ensure designs meet requirements.\n\n * Contribute to bids and proposals, ensuring design work is delivered on time and within budget.\n\nWhat You’ll Need:\n\n * Strong skills in 2D and 3D CAD modelling (SolidWorks essential).\n\n * Good understanding of manufacturing processes and material properties, including fatigue and load considerations.\n\n * Ability to create and interpret technical drawings and specifications.\n\n * Confident in producing technical reports and presenting to stakeholders.\n\n * Experience with aerospace, defence, or other safety-critical industries is ; knowledge of airworthiness or electrical systems is a bonus.\n\nQualifications & Experience:\n\n * HND, Degree, or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or a related discipline.\n\n * Experience gained in safety-critical sectors such as aerospace, defence, transport, marine, or medical devices.\n\n * Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).\n\nWhat ’s on Offer:\n\n * A salary of £35,000-£40,000, depending on experience.\n\n * 4.5-day working week with flexible hours.\n\n * Ongoing training and personal development support.\n\n * Career progression opportunities within a dynamic engineering environment.\n\nIf you are interested in this opportunity, please apply with your CV today
