Job Description

Our client deliver complex fire protection and security solutions. As technical experts their focus is on the lifetime value of a project. Meaning they can design, supply, install, test and maintain all types of sprinkler, gas suppression, fire detection, and integrated security systems.

With 140+ year trading experience and a strong project delivery culture, we are proud to have built lasting relationships with some of the UK’s most respected companies in all areas of industry and construction.\n\nSummary of Role\n\nWorking in a team within Birmingham regional office you will be instrumental in the design and program of fire protect systems (water mist / sprinklets etc) working on various UK wide projects.\n\nWhat you will be doing\n\nDevelop the design of the water mist system through a process of co-ordination with client representatives and other service contracts through to a final scheme.\nContribute to the design programme by monitoring same against the construction programme and specification requirements.\nIssue all completion documents and certification.\nObtain all necessary information from all relevant parties for the preparation of fully designed working drawings including site, architects, consultants, builders and other trades.\nAttend site meetings independently, when necessary, where design matters are on the agenda.\nPreparation of complete working drawings in accordance with the appropriate design codes including establishing pipe sizes by hydraulic calculations.\nFrom design drawings, list off materials for various purposes including material procurement, estimating of variations, schedule of rates etc.\nForward drawings / quantities of materials listed to suppliers / subcontractors for procurement purposes. Also, order materials and monitor and maintain levels of equipment.\nOther activities as instructed by the Project manager / Design Manager.\nFamiliarise & comply with all company policies & procedures.\n\nWhat we will need from you\n\nComprehensive experience in a design engineering role within the sprinkler industry is essential\nComprehensive knowledge and familiarity with LPC BS EN 12845 rule is essential\nKnowledge of Factory Standards is essential\nExperience of managing, developing, mentoring and leading a team.\nSuccessful, positive & professional communication with clients and colleagues at all levels along with professional promotion of the Company image through personal behaviours and conduct.\nOrganisational skills, time management, and ability to prioritise effectively meeting changing priorities.\nActive problem solver with ability to utilise.\nDemonstrates a “can do” attitude applying own initiative and working successfully under minimal supervision.\nFull driving license.\nSome flexibility will be required in terms of travel and working hours as there will be occasional nights away from home.\nWhat you can expect in return\n\n£50k - £60k salary\n\nCompetitive & negotiable salary\nCar allowance\n25 days holiday plus bank holidays\nContributory company pension scheme\nLife Assurance\nCompany Funded Health Cash Plan\nHours 36.5 per week (Monday to Thursday 8.45 – 16.40, Friday 8.45 – 4pm)\n\nPlease cal Jo Harrington on (phone number removed) for more details and please apply to this advert to prompt a call back
