A Good-rated secondary school in Sunderland is seeking a passionate, motivated, and skilled Design & Technology Teacher to join their supportive DT department as soon as possible. This is an excellent opportunity to engage and inspire students across Key Stages 3 and 4, helping them develop creativity, technical ability, and confidence when working with a wide range of materials and tools.

The Role:

Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality DT lessons in line with the national curriculum

Teach across KS3 and KS4, with the ability to cover areas such as resistant materials, product design, engineering, graphics, or systems (depending on your specialism)

Create an engaging and inclusive learning environment that encourages innovation, practical skill development, and independent thinking

Differentiate lessons to meet the needs of all learners, including those requiring additional support

Monitor progress, assess learning, and provide meaningful feedback to support student development

Prepare students for internal assessments and GCSE examinations, ensuring they feel confident and well prepared

Contribute to curriculum planning, resource development, and the ongoing improvement of the DT department

Support enrichment opportunities such as STEM clubs, competitions, or design-based projects

Requirements:

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification

Experience teaching Design & Technology at KS3 and KS4

Strong subject knowledge and confidence delivering both practical and theoretical content

Excellent classroom management skills and a commitment to raising standards

A proactive approach to maintaining high health and safety standards in workshop environments
