Ashton Recruitment require a Deputy Store Manager our client based in Moy. Position: Deputy Store Manager Location: Moy Duration: Permanent Pay Rate: Up to £40,000 Hours of work: Working 5 days over 7, contracted 40 hours per week between store opening hours (6.00am-10.00pm - You will be expected to work 1 Weekend in 4) As Deputy Manager (Services), you will oversee the day-to-day operations of all customer-facing service areas, including the Front End (checkouts, PayPoint, Lotto), Post Office, and forecourt facilities. You will be responsible for delivering an exceptional customer experience, ensuring full compliance across service areas, maintaining key equipment, and leading a team of around 10-12 service colleagues. This will involve direct supervision of the Front End, Post Office, Cleaning team, and associated external service providers. In addition, you will contribute to store-wide duty management, foster positive community engagement, and drive ongoing improvements in service delivery. Duties will include: Manage daily operations of all customer service areas, ensuring compliance, functionality, and high service standards. Oversee key service equipment, resolve faults promptly, and liaise with suppliers/engineers. Handle escalated customer complaints and gather feedback to drive service improvements. Lead, develop, and support a team of 10-12 colleagues, including recruitment, induction, rotas, holidays, and performance management. Conduct daily briefings, allocate tasks, supervise shifts, and address welfare, disciplinary, and grievance matters. Identify training needs, create development plans, and manage team progression. Collaborate with the General Manager on sales planning, marketing initiatives, social media content, and community engagement. Maintain strong local visibility, build partnerships, and promote the store brand. Ensure all service-related legal, health & safety, and operational procedures are followed. Keep compliance records, logs, and checklists up to date; lead/support audits. Monitor store appearance, hygiene, and safety standards, acting as Duty Manager when required. Manage shift handovers, resolve operational issues in real-time, and ensure legal trading compliance. Coordinate First Aider/Fire Marshal cover and maintain a safe environment for staff and customers. Essential Criteria: Proven retail management experience, ideally within the grocery or convenience food sector. Strong leadership skills with the ability to coach, develop, and motivate teams. Experienced in delivering company strategy, driving sales, and achieving performance targets. Commercially aware, confident using data to inform decisions, and effective in managing costs. Adaptable, customer-focused, and able to work at pace in a changing environment. Collaborative team player with excellent communication skills.
