OverviewTHE COMPANY:Our client is an award-winning wealth management firm based in London. They are looking to hire a Deputy Head of Compliance and Risk to advise on all matters pertaining to regulation and risk.ResponsibilitiesManage the firm’s second line risk and Compliance activitiesSupport and, where required, deputise for the CRO in all matters relating to risk, compliance, financial crime and data protection.Stay up to date with the regulatory agenda and provide information and insight for management on forecast regulatory change.Provide advice and guidance to management on the regulatory requirements relevant to their business areas, including in relation to business change initiatives.Develop and maintain risk and compliance related policies consistent with the firm’s risk appetiteSupport management to develop and articulate policies, processes and controls which adhere to regulatory requirements and are within the firm’s risk appetite.Using data and AI alongside traditional sampling techniques, manage the ongoing risk and compliance monitoring process and use the results to assess the level of risk exposure arising from the firm’s activities. Report findings to management.Ensure the firm delivers its regular regulatory reporting accurately and in a timely manner.Manage the response to regulatory requests and identify any required ad hoc reporting.Handle customer complaints in line with applicable regulatory requirements.Manage the financial promotions review process.Manage the risk event process, producing information and insights for management and generating actions where required.Provide training to staff on regulatory matters.Support the preparation of the annual Consumer Duty report.Maintain an external network of peers and technical specialists and liaise on a regular basis. Work with external advisers and auditors as requiredWith the support of the CRO, promote a culture of risk awareness, risk management and compliance throughout the firm ensuring client outcomes are paramount.Support management to identify, measure and appropriately mitigate all risks arising from the activities under their responsibility. Support the firm’s ICARA process.Experience requiredUnderstanding of the UK wealth management industry, its activities, products and servicesUnderstanding of the UK regulatory environment for wealth management firmsKnowledge of UK data protection requirements, particularly GDPRConsumer Duty experienceKnowledge of the SEC regulatory environment an advantageUnderstanding of risk assessment methodologies as relevant to wealth managementInterest in the development of AI tools to deliver risk and compliance prioritiesExperience of supporting risk and regulatory projectsMinimum of five years’ experience in compliance or risk managementMinimum of two years’ experience in a compliance management role which involved significant stakeholder managementLine management experienceFor further information please contact Hannah Tabatabai
