Role Summary Royal Devon University Healthcare is pleased to announce an exciting opportunity for the role of Deputy Associate Director of Midwifery (DADOM). This pivotal position supports the Director of Midwifery (DOM) and the Associate Director of Midwifery (ADOM) in delivering exceptional maternity and gynaecology services. More detail about the role Mainly based in Barnstaple Hospital, the DADOM is responsible for providing robust operational and professional leadership, effectively managing both workforce and resources. This role involves working closely with the DOM and ADOM, offering expert advice on midwifery and maternity matters at Trust level. In this capacity, the DADOM exemplifies high professional standards, leading midwifery and nursing staff with integrity. They are accountable to the DOM for upholding the quality agenda and providing professional leadership to the midwifery and gynaecology nursing teams, ensuring effective professional practice in line with clinical governance requirements. Collaboration is a key aspect of this role. The DADOM works alongside a multidisciplinary team, including Clinical Leads, Matrons, the Quality and Safety Team, the Maternity and Neonatal Voice Partnership (MNVP), and service managers. Together, they ensure that gynaecology and maternity care is safe, evidence‑based, and tailored to the needs of service users.
