We're looking for an experienced Delivery Manager / Project Manager to lead ambitious change projects focused on improving outcomes for children, young people and families.
You'll work at the heart of service transformation - shaping how services are designed, delivered and experienced. This is not a traditional local government role; it's hands‑on, fast‑paced and rooted in agile delivery, service improvement and social innovation.
If you enjoy turning complex challenges into practical solutions, working closely with users and frontline teams, and delivering meaningful change at pace - this role will suit you perfectly.
What you'll be doing
You'll take ownership of multiple change initiatives, ensuring delivery to time, quality and budget. Working with multidisciplinary teams, you'll:
Lead agile projects and programmes focused on service improvement, efficiency and demand management Coordinate delivery teams in a matrix environment, creating momentum and clarity Plan and facilitate workshops, stakeholder meetings and co‑design sessions Prototype new services and ways of working, helping teams turn ideas into live services Embed agile ways of working, maintaining pace through iterative delivery Manage risks, dependencies and governance - without bureaucracy slowing progress Build strong relationships with senior leaders, frontline teams, partners and residents Use insight and data to inform decisions and demonstrate impactYou'll be trusted to work independently, solve problems proactively, and keep delivery moving - even in complex and high‑pressure environments.
What we're looking for
We're looking for someone who brings confidence, energy and credibility to transformation work.
You must have:
Strong experience in agile project or programme management A proven track record delivering change or transformation initiatives, ideally in the public or social sector Excellent stakeholder engagement skills - able to lead conversations, workshops and collaboration at all levels The ability to turn strategic objectives into practical delivery plans Confidence working with complexity, uncertainty and tight deadlines A solid understanding of service improvement, digital enablement and innovation Strong data awareness - able to track progress, benefits and outcomesEssential
Experience working with Children's Services Experience within SEND services Exposure to service design or social innovation approaches
