Job Description
Defendant Clinical Negligence Solicitor / Associate – Leeds (Hybrid) \nAssociate level (1–8 PQE guide) | Salary up to £75,000 + Bonus & Benefits \n \nAn established healthcare litigation practice is recruiting a defendant clinical negligence Solicitor / Associate to join its Leeds-based team on a hybrid working basis. The role offers a varied caseload of NHS-related instructions alongside broader healthcare work, with strong support, quality supervision and clear scope to progress. \n \n The role \n \nYou will manage your own caseload of defendant clinical negligence matters and support on wider healthcare-related work as needed. Responsibilities will typically include:

\n\t Running claims from initial instruction through to conclusion, including litigated matters and ADR where appropriate
\n\t
Assessing liability, causation and quantum, and shaping case strategy from an early stage
\n\t
Drafting key documents such as pleadings, witness evidence, instructions to experts and counsel, and formal correspondence
\n\t
Working closely with clinicians, experts, counsel and client stakeholders to progress matters efficiently
\n\t
Attending hearings, conferences, mediations and settlement meetings when required
\n\t
Maintaining strong file management, reporting and reserving discipline
\n\t
Supporting colleagues on larger or more complex matters, with potential exposure to group actions depending on the workstream

\n What you’ll need

\n\t Qualified solicitor with experience in defendant clinical negligence / healthcare litigation
\n\t
Prior NHS-focused work is desirable for this role (for example, NHS Resolution instructions or acting for NHS Trusts/insurers)
\n\t
Ability to manage a technical caseload with a practical, commercially minded approach
\n\t
Strong drafting and communication skills, with confidence dealing with experts and counsel
\n\t
Good organisation and the ability to balance competing deadlines in a hybrid environment
\n\t
Interest in mentoring and supporting junior colleagues is an advantage
\n
