The role underpins the service management framework as without accurate data the organisation will be unable to deliver against customer requirements. The purpose of IT Asset Management is to plan and manage the full lifecycle of IT Assets to help the organisation maximise value, control costs, manage risks, meet regulatory & contractual requirements and to support decision making surrounding the purchasing, reuse, retirement and disposal of assets. It ensures that Service Asset and Configuration Management identifies controls and accounts for service assets and CIs ensuring their integrity across the service lifecycle.
