Database Data Engineer | London (3 days a week onsite) | up to £100,000


Peaple Talent have partnered with a forward-thinking financial services organisation transforming access to credit across the UK. With a strong reputation for customer trust and innovation, they’re now looking for a Data Engineer with deep database expertise to play a critical role in modernising and scaling their data platforms.


The Role

This is a database-heavy Data Engineer position where you’ll take ownership of designing, optimising and evolving production-critical systems across AWS. Particularly using SQL Server and PostgreSQL environments.


Key Responsibilities

  • Design and deliver scalable database solutions (SQL Server, PostgreSQL, DynamoDB)
  • Lead migrations of MS SQL Server on EC2 to AWS RDS
  • Build and manage data pipelines
  • Drive performance tuning, query optimisation, and indexing strategies
  • Collaborate across engineering teams to embed robust database architecture


✅ What We’re Looking For

  • 5+ years in database engineering (design, build, optimisation, support)
  • Strong hands-on expertise in SQL Server (T-SQL) and PostgreSQL
  • Proven experience with AWS database services (RDS, Aurora, DynamoDB)
  • Track record of cloud migrations and database modernisation
  • Experience with ETL, pipelines, and replication
  • Python or similar scripting skills with an automation mindset
