The Role

You will own the organisation’s data strategy, lead the migration to a modern data platform, implement Master Data Management (MDM), and establish governance structures that support trustworthy, high‑quality data across the business.

Working closely with Product, Technology, and Business stakeholders, you’ll ensure the organisation is equipped for AI‑ready data, real‑time insights, and scalable analytics.


Key Responsibilities

Data Strategy & Roadmap

  • Own the data platform roadmap and set priorities for what gets developed and when
  • Translate technical initiatives into measurable business outcomes
  • Manage backlog priorities for data pipelines and data model development

Data Governance

  • Establish and lead a Data Governance Council across Commercial, Operations, and Finance
  • Implement data governance frameworks including quality rules, ownership, and lineage
  • Ensure GDPR and data privacy requirements are met

Master Data Management (MDM)

  • Deliver MDM across core domains: Customer, Supplier, Product, Booking, Financial
  • Create single sources of truth through accurate “golden records”
  • Remove duplicate and inconsistent data across operational and commercial systems

Data Product Ownership

  • Develop data products such as Customer 360, Supplier Master, and Booking Analytics
  • Act as Product Owner for enterprise dashboards
  • Understand and deliver on data consumer needs across the organisation

Data Quality Management

  • Set data quality metrics, KPIs, and automated monitoring processes
  • Implement quality rules within Bronze/Silver/Gold data architecture
  • Continuous improvement of data accuracy and completeness

AI & RAG Foundations

  • Build data foundations for AI, including RAG (Retrieval Augmented Generation) models
  • Provide high‑quality structured data for AI-powered quoting, forecasting, and scoring
  • Partner with AI Engineers on data requirements for ML and Gen‑AI use cases

Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Work with Product Owners across digital, booking, and finance domains
  • Constructively challenge and guide stakeholders to refine data requirements


Skills & Experience

Essential

  • Travel industry data experience (bookings, suppliers, product, customer data)
  • Proven background in data product management or data governance
  • Strong business/technical partnership capability
  • Experience with modern data platforms (e.g., Snowflake, Databricks)
  • Skilled in Agile, roadmapping, and backlog management
  • Experience building data governance frameworks
  • Excellent stakeholder management
  • Desirable

    • Experience with MDM implementations
    • Understanding of Bronze/Silver/Gold architecture
    • Familiarity with data quality tools (Great Expectations, Monte Carlo, etc.)
    • BI tools such as Power BI
    • Experience consolidating data during M&A
    • Understanding of AI/ML data requirements (RAG, embeddings, semantic search)
    • Experience preparing datasets for machine learning
    • Knowledge of cloud AI services
