Are you looking for your next challenge? Are you a Data Manager ready to take your career to the next level? We are seeking a Data Operations Manager to lead and scale our data capabilities, ensuring the delivery of reliable, high-quality, and accessible data across our platforms and databases.

This role requires strong Data Operations leadership, technical insight, and stakeholder management skills to oversee both the build of new data products and the operation of live environments. You will manage cross-functional, onshore and offshore teams to deliver customer-focused solutions while maintaining high operational standards.

You will be responsible for prioritising delivery across new programmes, managing live data environments, and providing technical guidance to Data Engineers and Principal Data Engineers. This is an exciting opportunity to shape the DataOps function in a fast-paced, evolving organisation and lead both Build & Run activities for critical data platforms.

Key Responsibilities

Build - Project Delivery & Data Product Development

• Lead prioritisation and capacity planning for customer-focused data programmes and products.
• Collaborate with Principal Data Engineers to size, scope, and deliver scalable data solutions.
• Oversee development of SQL Server, Amazon Data Lakes, and GCP-based data products.
• Support engineering teams in delivering data pipelines, transformations, and integrations.
• Ensure solutions align with customer journeys, claims, and product experiences.

Run - Operations & Platform Management

• Line manage the operations team across the UK, South Africa, and India.
• Oversee live data platforms, ensuring reliability, modernisation, and optimisation.
• Assess impact of issues, prioritise operational tasks, and maintain platform performance.
• Provide technical guidance to troubleshoot and resolve complex data and infrastructure challenges.

Governance & Stakeholder Management

• Collaborate with Product Executives, IT teams, and stakeholders to ensure data governance, compliance, and security.
• Track KPIs and provide insights on performance, delivery, and operational efficiency.
• Promote best practices in data quality, integrity, and process standardisation.

Key Requirements

• Proven experience in data operations, data engineering, or platform management (typically 5+ years).
• Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams across multiple locations.
• Strong technical knowledge to challenge and guide senior Data Engineers and Principal Data Engineers.
• Hands-on experience with SQL Server, Amazon Data Lakes, and familiarity with GCP desirable.
• Experience in both Build (delivery of new data products) and Run (operation of live environments).
• Ability to prioritise competing workloads, manage capacity, and make impactful decisions.
• Knowledge of data governance, compliance, and regulatory frameworks.
• Excellent communication, relationship management, and stakeholder engagement skills. xbpsjku
