We are seeking an experienced Data Migration Engineer with a strong background working within a UK police force or policing environment to support a major records management system (RMS) migration programme . The role will focus on migrating data from legacy policing systems into NicheRMS (or a comparable police RMS platform).
Role Overview You will play a critical role in the planning, execution, and delivery of complex data migrations, ensuring data accuracy, integrity, and compliance with policing and information governance standards. Working closely with technical architects, DBAs, system integrators, and policing stakeholders, you will help enable a smooth and controlled transition from legacy systems to NicheRMS.
Key Responsibilities Design, develop, and execute data migration strategies for legacy policing systems into NicheRMS.

Analyse, map, cleanse, transform, and reconcile large and complex data sets.

Build and run migration scripts, tooling, and repeatable migration processes.

Validate migrated data to ensure completeness, accuracy, and auditability.

Work closely with DBAs, technical architects, and system integration teams to support end-to-end delivery.

Identify and resolve data quality issues and migration risks.

Produce clear migration documentation, data mappings, and test evidence.

Support migration rehearsals, cutover activities, and post-migration assurance.

Essential Experience Proven experience as a Data Migration Engineer on complex system or platform migrations.

Experience working within a UK police force or policing environment .

Hands-on experience migrating data into NicheRMS or a similar police Records Management System (RMS) .

Strong background in legacy system data migration, including data mapping and transformation.

Experience working with relational databases and large, sensitive data sets.

Strong attention to detail and ability to work within highly governed environments.

Desirable Experience Direct experience migrating to NicheRMS .

Knowledge of police data standards, information management, and governance frameworks.

Experience working on large public-sector, criminal justice, or blue-light transformation programmes.

This role will fall outside of IR35.
