Data Engineer | On Prem | Bristol (Hybrid)



We’re supporting a leading engineering organisation working on cutting-edge AI and data platforms, and they’re looking for a Data Engineer to join their growing team.


This role sits within a GenAI-focused function, working on the design, build and optimisation of data pipelines and datasets used across the business. It’s a great opportunity to work on genuinely interesting problems in a secure, highly technical environment.



What you’ll be doing:

  • Designing and building robust, secure data pipelines in an on-prem environment
  • Working closely with internal teams to understand and optimise their data requirements
  • Improving data quality, governance and overall architecture
  • Supporting the development of datasets used in AI and machine learning applications
  • Contributing to technical direction and exploring new tools and technologies



What they’re looking for:

  • Strong experience with SQL databases such as MS SQL or Oracle
  • Experience with NoSQL technologies like MongoDB or Neo4j
  • Solid background in ETL, data processing and integration
  • Python development experience
  • Experience working in on-prem or hybrid environments (not purely cloud-based)
  • Understanding of big data technologies such as Hadoop is beneficial



Nice to have:

  • Exposure to NLP, OCR or Generative AI
  • Experience with containerisation tools like Docker
  • Background in engineering, industrial or defence environments



Location: Bristol (2–3 days onsite)
