An exciting opportunity has arisen for Domestic Abuse Practitioners to join our Domestic Abuse Complex Needs service, working full-time, 37.5 hours per week.
You will be joining a multi service charity based in Coventry. In return, we offer a competitive salary of £28,000 p.a., plus on-call payments (minimum £2,000 - £3,000) per annum and a contributory pension scheme. Annual leave 26 days + bank holidays with an additional day’s leave for every 2 years of service up to a maximum of 29 days per annum. We also offer a comprehensive in-house training programme, access to a range of accredited training, clinical supervision, subsidised nursery places and an Employee Assistance Programme for health and wellbeing support.
What We Do:
The charity has a fully trained staff team providing Supported Accommodation to survivors of domestic abuse and with complex needs. There is also an on-site Children’s Nursery that provides full day care for pre-school children.
We are looking for reliable and committed individuals who are able to:
Offer a high-quality service to survivors of domestic abuse with complex needs accessing Valley House Safe and Supported Accommodation in accordance with Valley House’s operational policies and procedures.
Manage a small caseload of service users who are accessing the 7-bed Complex service.
Supporting service users to achieve and sustain independent living, through one to one and groupwork delivery.
Provide a resettlement service for service users that have transitioned into their own accommodation.
Be part of a staff rota covering shifts, Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 4:30pm.
The successful candidate will have:
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Required
Desirable
Extensive experience in the related area of work and willingness to work towards a qualification
ü
Mental First Aider qualified or willing to undertake this training, Valley House will fund this
ü
Experience of working with individuals and children affected by domestic abuse
ü
Experience of working with individuals experiencing Mental Health and/or alcohol and Drug misuse
ü
Experience assessing the needs and risks of people affected by domestic abuse
ü
Experience of 1 to 1 work and carrying a caseload
ü
Experience of working in partnership with a range of different agencies
ü
Experience of record keeping and report writing
ü
KNOWLEDGE & UNDERSTANDING
Knowledge and understanding of the difficulties faced by survivors of domestic abuse
ü
Knowledge and understanding of domestic abuse, mental health and alcohol and drug misuse
ü
Knowledge of effective interventions in relation to working with survivors of domestic abuse where complex needs are present
ü
Knowledge of best practice in relation to safeguarding adults and children
ü
Understanding and passion for the work of Valley House
ü
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Ability to develop and deliver groupwork programs
ü
Ability to work effectively within a team and on one’s own initiative
ü
Competent in the use of IT tools, including Word, Excel and Outlook
ü
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
ü
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to work flexible hours with a flexible approach
ü
To take part in an out-of-hours on-call Rota with other staff
ü
Need to have a UK driving Licence and access to a vehicle and able to travel city wide at short notice
ü
