Hybrid working in London (with flexible working options)
Salary: £90,000 – £105,000 (depending on experience) + up to 30% bonus, private health, strong pension, etc.
Lorien is proud to be partnering with a leading UK-based financial services group to recruit a Credit Research Senior Analyst specialising in Structured Finance. This is a permanent opportunity to join a highly respected asset management function, working at the forefront of private credit and structured finance investment.
About the Role
As a Credit Research Senior Analyst, you will play a pivotal role in the assessment and ongoing monitoring of complex structured finance investments. You will be responsible for assigning internal credit ratings to a range of assets including asset-backed securities (ABS), collateralised loan obligations (CLOs), residential mortgage-backed securities (RMBS), and equity release mortgages (ERM)—and for ensuring these ratings remain robust and up to date.
You will work closely with origination and risk teams, providing independent analysis and insight to support investment decisions and safeguard the organisation’s balance sheet. Your expertise will help shape the internal rating framework, contribute to sector and portfolio reviews, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Assign and monitor internal credit ratings for structured finance assets, ensuring accuracy and adherence to approved methodologies.
- Conduct in-depth transaction reviews, sector deep-dives, and portfolio monitoring, including annual and ad-hoc reviews.
- Provide preliminary rating assessments for new investment opportunities, often working with limited data.
- Integrate environmental, social, and governance (ESG) factors into credit analysis.
- Maintain and enhance internal rating methodologies, ensuring alignment with industry best practice and regulatory guidance.
- Participate in governance forums and support regulatory deliverables, including interactions with the Prudential Regulation Authority (PRA).
- Produce clear, insightful reports and present findings to internal and external stakeholders.
What We’re Looking For
- Strong technical knowledge of structured finance products (e.g., ABS, CLOs, RMBS, ERM) and credit rating methodologies.
- Proven ability to independently conduct credit analysis, including financial review and assessment of loan documentation.
- Advanced cash flow modelling skills and experience with rating scorecards and financial models.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly.
- Understanding of regulatory requirements and governance processes related to credit ratings.
- Experience working with credit rating agencies or within a regulated asset management environment is highly desirable.
- Additional experience in distressed transactions, workouts, or transaction structuring would be advantageous.
Why Apply?
This is a rare opportunity to join a high-performing team in a business that values expertise, innovation, and professional growth. You’ll enjoy a competitive salary, a generous bonus scheme, and a comprehensive benefits package—including an excellent pension, private medical insurance, and flexible working arrangements.
If you are a structured finance specialist looking to take the next step in your career, we want to hear from you.
